- Pres. Mark will touch base with the borough/twp. for his President's Project.

Our speaker tonight was Mike ?? (sorry, didn't catch his name) from PNC Bank who spoke about banks and the current economy.
NEWSLETTER FOR AUGUST 16, 2010
* Tonight was a club assembly and B of D meeting.( always the 3rd Monday of every month).
* Randy VDT paid a happy $ and told us that his son Connor went to his 1st Eagles game this wknd. and actually caught a football which as you know is a rare occurence. NICE JOB, CONNOR!! He also reported that all Strike Out Hunger tickets are paid for & 85 were sold. By the time you read this, the game will have been played.
* Bill told us that dues r due and 4 or 5 people still owe-----U KNOW WHO U R.
* There were no visitors tonight but Mike got some $$ for fines---Carl and Steve coughed up $$ for wearing shorts BUT Mike was chastised for using the term "Mr.", which is a NO--NO in our club!!!
* Mary and Shannon were not present, so Mark postponed his discussion of the dictionaries and our adopted platoon 'til next week.
* Prez. Mark will touch bases with Frank as to the widening of the trailer and establish a work night in the near future.
* We are looking at a tentative date for our summer party which may be 10/11. Dan B. will keep us posted.
* Pres. Mark received a phone call from the mayor that the electrician repaired whatever needed repairing along the entire front of the borough hall. We can find out exactly what was done if we so desire. As of now, we will do the same events for Christmas this year.
* Alan informed us that Mon. 8/23 will be the start of the next cycle for the 15-week club. Plz. get your $$ in ASAP.
* Carole asked Randy to remind everyone about the Golf Outing on 10/8, which is $100 per person and $60 for sponsors.
* Dan G. brought up the subject of the raffle for the autographed baseball which Larry provided. Mark suggested that we get our committee together for some brainstorming. We have the opportunity to get the ball authenticated and the consensus is that we will probably do so. It is Dan's impression that Larry would like to keep the ball in the area and not be put out to the general public on the internet. Pres. Mark will call Larry and see how he wants to handle it.
* Anthony spoke about UN DAY which is on 11/6/10. 1st bus stop will be in Vineland and the 2nd at Deptford Mall. We must know way in advance who plans to attend. You will need ID for security purposes.
* The Waterford club is having a golf outing 10/4/10 at 1:00 at White Oaks. Cost is $125 per person.
* In regard to the Fall Fund Raiser, we tried gift cards last year which didn't seem to work out. If anyone has any thoughts on how we can do something better, please speak up.
* Manny Mcbride now resides in a convalescent center and it would be nice if we got together and visited him. A date will be decided. ( Manny was in my office a couple weeks ago and although he had a little trouble getting around, he still seemed his old chipper self.)
* Pres. Mark spoke about the Thanksgiving Baskets. We need a contact person to help us get the food distributed, possibly thru the food bank. Perhaps someone could come in as a program and speak to us about how we can maximize our donation.
Doc Rick
NEWSLETTER FOR AUGUST 23, 2010
* Pres. Mark opened the meeting on a sad note ---Jim Knight, Sr. is in the hospital with pneumonia. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim and his family.
* Vic has a box of Rotary hats ( that he forgot to bring in ). If anyone wants one, plz see him.
* The Strike Out Hunger game was well attended. The PHILLIES won and the weather was great.
* Brian D. spoke about our Rotary baseball. He's concerned about shipping the ball to Calif. for appraisal. The PSA CO. that does the appraisals is having a local show soon(possibly 9/24, he's not sure) in King of Prussia. They can authenticate the ball on the spot for about $50. He doesn't have a list of dealers at present, but apparently the ball can be appraised and authenticated at the same time. More on this soon.
* Shannon was called on to talk about the adopted platoon but said she needs some time to think about it for now and will know something by next week.
* Don't forget our golf outing set for 10/8. Carole will pass around a sign-up sheet very soon.
* REMINDER: Waterford golf outing --10/4 at $125 each Camden golf outing -- 9/16 at $125 each * After a long time, Vic finally convinced Tony Primo, his associate to come out to a meeting and possibly join our club---WELCOME TONY !!!! Randy VDT also had a guest, Tom Dickert.

* Alan reported that the winner for the 1st week of the new 15--week club cycle was one of Bill H.'s tickets for a whopping $98.48!!
* Alan was our program for the evening (as always, he takes a lot of well intended razzing from the audience, but we luv him!!) and he spoke about something that is very dear to his heart---our own Berlin Rotary website. He told us that communication in an organization such as ours is extremely important and proceeded to relate a couple of stories to prove his point. A few of the topics that you can pull up are:
~ weekly newsletter ~joke of the week ~Paul Harris Fellow--u can find out if any $$ has been set aside for u ~RYLA, Youth exchange program ~Adopt-A -Platoon ~Joy's Golf Outing ~a For--Members--Only section ~your committe assignments

* Guests tonight included Tom Dickert, Randy's guest and Tony Primo, Vic's guest. Dan B. brought his lovely wife, Nina.
* Mary reported on the dictionaries --- we must decide whether to nix the project or give them out. Due to the computer, the dictionary may be going the way of the dinosaur. Carole suggested that we go ahead with the project because they're cost effective and also a good way to get the name of Rotary out there. It is a district-wide project and we should support it. Vic agreed and said we need to talk to the people in charge and follow-up on their usage. Last year we gave out 263 dictionaries.
* Carole told us that she will pass out a sign-up sheet for Joy's 10/8 golf event after Labor Day. You can go to our website and print out a form or E-mail Carole and bring a check next meeting. You don't have to be a 4-some to participate.
* GOVERNOR'S VISIT ---10/18!!
* Thank-You notes were passed around tonight for the donations to Joy's golf outing and our scholarships.
* LIFELOCK, the company that protects you from identity theft has partnered with Rotary to give a discount to any members who join. The annual fee is about $100 with a $10 discount. Please see Mark.
* The Rotary Leadership Institute is Friday, 10/8 if you are interested in attending. Unfortunately, it's the same day as the golf outing. Mark stated: " GOLF WILL RULE"!!
* Alan reported on the 15-week club. A bunch of people still owe $$, so don't start crying if your # is pulled and you don't get a red cent!! Vic paid tonight and won tonight--- a whopping $14+change! ( still a little better than the $1.10 I won a few years ago!!)
* Mark showed us a piece of "plastic eagle" from the top of our flag that was apparently broken off. GOT MILK ! , I mean,GLUE??!
* Dan B. reported that the SUMMER PARTY will be at his house on 9/20 from 6:30 'til ?? PRICE IS $20/person which includes food and drink. Vic and Dan will be there from noon on, so come early if you wish. We have a lot of liquor left from previous events and we need to get this back. Please contact Dan or Vic if you know it's whereabouts. A sign-up sheet was passed around. Vic will collect the $$. Menu includes filet, ribs, chicken veggies and dessert. Our goal is to enjoy the evening with fun, food, activities and fellowship.
* Heard around the table section: Mary asked "Jose" our server for some tea this evening. Unfortunately, his name is "Juan". Surprisingly, she got the tea!!! Speak of the devil, Mary had a birthday this month so we all sang (if you can call it singing!!). HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY!!
* If you need a Rotary hat, Vic has some.
* Our program tonight was given by 3 representatives from "America Approved Energy Services". Some noteworthy points were:
They can deliver electricity at a 8--12 % discounted rate and 20% on the commercial side Can help Rotarians by paying out royalties monthly The customer appreciation program can save you $$ on entertainment and travel
* our 50/50 winner was one of our guests, Tom Dickert
P.S. Please check your E-Mail for recent important info on our summer party and the Rotary Yellow Pages ( with deadlines involved).
HAVE A GREAT, SAFE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!! (Hope EARL doesn't spoil it !)

NEWSLETTER FOR SEPT. 13, 2010
* President Mark started the meeting in a timely manner at which time Alan made an announcement that the winner of the 15-week club may not have paid. He offered the opportunity to do so at the start of the meeting or else the winner would be a loser.
* Happy $$'s Mark -- His wife, Terri was canning tomatoes all day!! Alan-- Gave a $1.00 but it wasn't a happy one---it was a fine for no jacket. As we all know, jackets are required from Labor Day thru Memorial Day.(I forgot mine too.) Mark questioned the rule for ladies and then backed off with a "You look fine" (smart move on his part to keep from getting in the doghouse!!) Andy S.--He's glad to be back after 3 1/2 months. Both son and daughter are engaged!!
* September's Birthday boys are Chris Wilhelm and Rocco Dottoli. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUYS!!

* 10/4 -- Waterford Golf Outing
* The meeting of 9/27 is Club Assembly and B of D meeting due to the summer party on 9/20.

* Alan stood up again and told us that the 15-week winner was the same person 2-weeks in a row, at $99.99 per week!! HOWEVER, the member (who shall remain nameless) was present tonight but did not pay. Therefore, the MOOLA goes back to the club. ~ November is Foundation month ~ Our goal is advancement of world understanding and peace, education, alleviation of poverty, disease prevention , and water sanitation among others. ~ The Foundation is basically how we perform major projects on an internal scale. ~ In the 1980's, the Matching Gift Program was started, eg. if you donate $500., the club will match it with another $500. ~ The Paul Harris Fellow was started in our club in 1957, with the 1st one being given to Neo Sirinis in 1971 followed by Doc Larsen and Ottie. ~ Our club has donated a total of $227,451 since the 70's and we are #1 in the district. ~ We need to focus on getting the Foundation into our local media for some P.R. and recognition. ~ Dan B. urged us to sign up with the TD Bank Program which gives back 1/2 of 1% of every $ that is deposited. We need at least 135 people in the district and we only have 50. IT COSTS YOU NOTHING TO DO THIS ! ~ Our club donated $13,708 to the new polio program. We are #1 in the district and we should be proud!! ~ What it all boils down to is that through the Foundation, we endeavor to support people physically, mentally and financially so they have a better life.
THANKS TO BILL AND DAN FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK!!!
The 50/50 was won by our newest inductee, Tom Dickert. Nice way to start!!!

Happy dollars:
Andy Simone: Two dollars; one to apologize for not being there on Saturday to help with the clean-up and the second for having a meeting at 6:30 am in 8 degree weather.
Pat Corrigan provided a dollar for appreciation for the donation received by his church in the amount of $10,000.00 plus other assistance from a great benefactor.

Pat announced guests for the evening that included Ms. Jodie Simone and also Mr. Lynn Dixon who is from the Marlton Club.
An announcement was made to advise everyone of the “Dining with Rotary Chefs” function which will be held on Sunday, January 30th at 5:30 pm at Wedgwood Country Club.
George added a happy dollar given that he won $525.00 at Sugarhouse Casino.
Victor Costantino stated that a sign-up sheet is being passed around for the Valentine’s Day Dinner. After much discussion on date, time, menu and location, it was determined that the Valentine’s Day Dinner will be held at the Italian-American Club on February 14th and the menu will consist of “surf and turf” at a cost of $25.00 per person.
President Mark stated he received a thank you for the dictionary project and expressed thanks to Mary.
President Mark advised the club that the club needs to start thinking about the Dining Out project and to start securing the gift certificates from the various 12 restaurants to raffle off and that the club should kick-off in March with tickets.
President Mark continued with a discussion that the club needs to start preparing for the Spring Fling project and reminded the club that the number of tickets have been reduced from 190 to 175 and the cost will remain at $275.00 per ticket and the function will be held at Venice. The reduction of tickets will allow with seating within the large room only. After some discussion, it was determined that a listing will be provided at the next meeting so that each member can review their tickets to ensure that they can sell their tickets and that each member will need to reserve them by April 5th. This will give the club a better idea of the tickets sold and to rearrange certain ticket numbers to those who had tickets 176 thru 190. Carol asked everyone to keep the seating at each table to a maximum of 10 to benefit the seating arrangement within the room.
The meeting concluded with Carl Maloney winning the 50/50 with the Joker NOT being picked.

Our program tonight was a discussion of the 4th of July festivities. Dan, Vic and Alan attended the meeting with the I.C.C.A. 4th of July committee. The committee needs volunteers to fill certain slots and is in need of funding. The Club had previously received word that the Committee desired Rotary to take over its operation of the 4th of July festivities, which is not true. They are in need of a runway ramp to be built on their design and specifications. After hearing from Dan and Alan, the Club was not in favor of assuming responsibility for the construction of the ramp. The issue as whether the Club will donate money to the Association or enter a float in the parade was left for further discussion.
Tom P. pulled the ace of clubs from the deck and walked away with $20.00.

The winner will receive a $100 award. • Mary will be taking the dictionaries to the 3rd graders on Tuesday. • Vic reported on the ICCA and 4th of July. Last year, we were a gold sponsor with a donation of $1000. The bucket brigade brought in almost $4000. Vic would like to see the club collect the money this year. We have about $30000 in the checking account for ICCA this year, which is a good start. If we do the collecting, we do not want any question as to where the money is going, with signed receipts, etc. We also may send a letter to all residents informing them that our club will be involved. Vic summed it up by saying, “Whatever we do, we must do a spectacular job!” • Carl thanked all who helped with the lights on Sat. Next year, Dan B. suggested we obtain 4 portable speakers for better acoustics and Anthony would like the tree to be trimmed---its getting too high to reach. • George K. gave us a heads up on the Spring Fling. This year there will be 160 tickets to sell and if paid for by 4/16/12, you can request a certain # ticket. We are hoping to accelerate the sale of tickets much earlier this year. DATE—5/18/12 COST-- $275. • Alan’s 15 week club winners were: Bill H.--$67.92 and again, a whopping $1.01!! Mike D.---$7.97 and Brian D.---$98.26. % members have not paid yet. Alan will send out an E-mail soon. • Our program was given by Dan Padden, a CPA from the Medford Sunrise Club. • 50/50---Vic’s better half! As always, toothfully yours, DOC RICK
